“We admire elephants in part because they demonstrate what we consider the finest human traits: empathy, self-awareness, and social intelligence. But the way we treat them puts on display the very worst of human behavior.”

                                                    - Graydon Carter, Journalist

Elephants are one of the world's most gentle creatures, but despite this, they are being killed at an alarming rate. In Africa the current elephant population has decreased from the millions to between only 450,000 - 700,000.

The cause of this drastic decline is the ivory trade. Many countries have black markets that illegally buy ivory to sell as trinkets, jewelry and high-end art carvings. The demand for them is increasing rapidly because of laws not being strictly enforced. The only way to stop the ivory trade and elephant poaching is to ban all sales of ivory and strictly enforce the laws.

It’s Time to Put a Stop to Elephant Ivory Trade and Poaching.
